Florida logs lowest manatee death toll since 2019
Florida has had its lowest number of manatee deaths since 2019, as the threatened species rebounds from a record die-off. As of April 26, the most recent data available, 230 manatees have died so far this year, according to the most recent available statistics from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. By comparison, 265 manatees had died by this time last year, and 532 the previous year.

Funding Florida Legal Aid, formerly known as The Florida Bar Foundation, is seeking applicants for nonlawyer public member directors for three-year terms starting July 1. In accordance with its Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation, there shall be no fewer than two or more than four public members, who shall not be lawyers, to be selected by a joint nominating committee of FFLA and The Florida Bar.
‘Wings of Joy’ art for Solary Park gets City Council approval
Two years after first being proposed, a much-anticipated art project finally has the approvals to proceed. The planned “Wings of Joy” sculptures at Solary Park was originally discussed with Oviedo’s Public Arts Board in April 2022 and announced in June 2022, and after alterations to the plan and donations to the budget, was officially approved to move forward by City Council during its May 6 meeting.
