    85-year-old woman dies after crash involving PGPD officer in Largo

    PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) announced that an 85-year-old woman died in the hospital days after she was involved in a crash with an on-duty police officer in Largo .

    On Sept. 9, around 11:20 a.m., a Prince George’s County officer and 85-year-old Jeanette Benthall, of Largo, were both driving when they collided at the intersection of Campus Way South and Joyceton Drive, according to police.

    Responders took both Benthall and the officer to the hospital for treatment. However, Benthall died on Sept. 14.

    The officer has since been released.

    As the investigation continues, PGPD’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is working to collect any video evidence and speak with additional witnesses.
