    State of Emergency declared in Nicholas County for water conservation, drought

    NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WVNS) – The Nicholas County Commission Monday declared a State of Emergency for water conservation and drought conditions.

    According to the release by the Nicholas County Commission, the declaration serves as an urgent notice to all residents to participate in water conservation efforts to mitigate the crisis.

    The release says that Richwood Waterworks currently has only four days of water reserves left as of Monday.

    How does drought affect groundwater?

    According to the release, the declaration helps county and state resources to mobilize into the area and provide much-needed assistance in the most affected areas.
