DMV grocery price check: Walmart, Giant and Safeway

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — As families continue searching for cost-saving strategies amid higher prices for essentials, DC News Now continues to monitor price changes for pantry staples and popular supermarkets.

At a time when high costs persist, price-checking has proven beneficial, according to grocery price data we continue to collect.

According to the latest figures from the US. Department of Agriculture (USDA) , the monthly cost to feed two young kids is anywhere from $314 to $772 for low-cost meal plans to higher-cost plans.

An August report from the USDA predicts that grocery prices will rise by 1.2% during the rest of the year, while dining-out costs could increase by 4.1%.
