Hi there BroadwayWorld! My name is Megan Frigerio. I’m a junior theater major with a performance concentration and a music minor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Over the next few months, I'll be coming at you guys with all kinds of fun posts about life in Harrisonburg, life as an out-of-state theater student, and some of the really neat opportunities and experiences I’ve had not only as a student at JMU STAD (School of Theatre and Dance) but as an undergrad trying to balance making the most out of my college experience while having rehearsals Monday through Friday from 6:30pm to 10:30pm and working my muggle job/taking muggle classes (muggle is the word I use for non-theater work).

Preventing Alzheimer's Disease before it's too late
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Though Alzheimer’s is commonly found in older people, it is not a natural part of aging. The Alzheimer’s Association is reminding people that the best treatment for Alzheimer’s is prevention because the disease doesn’t have a cure.

RHSPCA warnings against leaving pets in hot cars
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - Summer is around the corner, and as the weather heats up, local animal shelters are reminding owners to avoid leaving their pets in hot cars. According to Huck Nawaz, executive director of the Rockingham - Harrisonburg SPCA, dogs heat up faster than humans, making it potentially fatal for them if left in a hot car. Breeds like pugs, bulldogs and boxers are especially vulnerable because their snouts make it hard to cool down when they breathe.
Two Valley schools selected to receive funding for electric school buses
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -The Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation is eligible to receive up to $600,000 to replace three diesel school buses with electric ones. Mike Parks, Communications Director for the City of Harrisonburg, said the public transportation team applied for an EPA Clean School Bus rebate and was approved for it.
