Fires on Tuesday morning ‘potentially related’ according to DFD

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Two fires raged around the same time and vicinity Tuesday morning.

The Dayton Fire Department Fire Investigations Unit is investigating two fires this morning that they are calling “incendiary” and “potentially related.”

According to the Dayton Fire Department, around 4 a.m. crews were dispatched to the area of E. Fourth Street and S. Hedges Street on report of a structure fire.

The fire emanated from the 3000 block of E. Fourth Street inside of a garage. Crews tended to the fire and completed a series of searches throughout the property within two hours. No injuries were reported from the scene.

Around the same time at 4:35 a.m., a separate Dayton Fire crew was dispatched to a reported structure fire on the 100 block of S. Sperling Avenue. Crews on-scene combatted a heavy fire blazing inside of a two-story building.

After getting the fire under control and searching the structure numerous times, no injuries were reported. Crews were on scene for around 3 hours.

Now, the DFD is investigating both fires, finding them to be possibly related.

The DFD asks that anyone with information regarding the fires call 937-333-TIPS (8477) or 937-222-STOP (7867).
