‘It’s a hole in my heart;’ Mother seeks closure as search continues for missing Dayton man

DAYTON — A mother wants her missing son home and his memory not forgotten.

Glenna Flohre has not seen her 30-year-old son Jack Flohre since Jan. 15.

Jack, who lived with Glenna, walked out of their home on that day in January and never returned.

“He said ‘I’ll be right back’ so I expected him right back and so I started texting him ... and nothing, he never answered his phone again,” she said.

Glenna said Jack struggled with mental health issues including depression. She said some days he would have very low, lows.

“That’s hard for any mother to hear that your son wants to die, that’s how bad his depression he had was,” she said.

Jack tried several different medications but when they didn’t help, he turned to drugs, Glenna said.

She said he got “lost soul” tattooed on his knuckles because he often felt lost in the battle against his thoughts.

But she wants Jack to be remembered for more than the choices he made.

“He’s funny, he’s loving, he wears his emotions on his sleeve,” she said.

Earlier this month Dayton police posted on social media saying Jack was last seen on Ingram Street.

The department said it did not suspect foul play but his well-being was in question.

“Oh my god, the nightmares and I see that he’s not with me. It’s just a sinking feeling. It’s a hole in my heart for Jack,” she said.

Glenna said she just wants closure about what happened to her son.

“I want Jack home, bring him home so we can put him to rest,” she said.

Glenna and police are asking anyone with information about Jack to call Detective Jacob Hemmelgarn (937) 333-1152, Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-STOP or on the online at miamivalleycrimestoppers.com.
