The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Washington man Wednesday on a warrant for Auto Theft. 36-year-old Andrew Foster is being held on $5,000 bond in the Daviess County Security Center. 157 inmates were being held in the security center early Thursday morning.

Daviess County Commissioners Address Mine Reclamation and Infrastructure Delays
The Daviess County Commissioners met Tuesday morning with a short agenda. Commissioner Michael Taylor was absent. County Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler reported on the reclamation process for the abandoned coal mine on County Road 700 E. The project is waiting on the state to finish reclamation of a mine in Dubois County. Winkler also told the commissioners that there was a delay in getting state permits for the construction of the new salt barn. Winkler said it will now be the end of February or early March before it is completed.
Annual Cops and Kids Event December 14th
The 33rd annual Cops and Kids event, sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 101, is set to make Christmas special for Head Start children in Daviess and Martin Counties. On December 14, volunteers from local, state, and federal law enforcement, fire departments, courts, and other first responders will shop with the children at Wal-Mart.
