Dare County Sheriff’s Office reports two drug arrests from May 30

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported two separate drug arrests that occurred on Tuesday, May 30, 2023:

On May 30, 2023, at approximately 11:28pm, Deputies working the C-District responded to a suspicious person at a closed business in the area of 47000 block of NC Hwy 12.

When they arrived there were two individuals in the PVA of the closed business. While speaking to them a bookbag was located and both denied ownership of it. It was checked for identification and an amount of Methamphetamine along with an ID of a person who was on scene was located and seized.

Kristen Marie Jarvis, 39, of Buxton, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with (F) Possession of Methamphetamine. Jarvis was given a $15,000 secured bond.

On May 30, 2023, at approximately 1:15pm, Deputies working the B-District attempted to stop a vehicle near Burrus and Mill Landing Rd, in Wanchese.

The vehicle did not stop and continued out of Wanchese towards Nags Head. The Deputies stop the pursuit due to the amount of traffic on US 64. Nags Head Police were able to find the vehicle near the Quality Plus where it again failed to stop. After a short pursuit the driver jumped from the vehicle and ran. James Splawn, 30, was arrested and charged with (F) Flee to Elude with a Motor Vehicle, (M) Possession of Marijuana, (M) Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, (M) Resist/Delay/Obstruct, Speeding, Running a Red Light, Improper Passing and Left of Center. Splawn was also served with his warrant for (M) Probation Violation. Splawn was given a $75,000 secured bond. Nags Head and Manteo Police Departments assisted in this incident.
