Children and adults displaced by Danville duplex fire
DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Five children and three adults are displaced after a fire Thursday, according to the Danville Fire Department. Crews responded around 3 p.m. to the duplex at 155 Marshall Terrace. They found light smoke coming from the rear of the building and confirmed the fire was coming from the center-rear of the inside of the house, extending into the spaces between the walls and floors, and into the bathrooms on the second floor, burning through to the exterior rear wall. According to the Danville Fire Department, the fire affected both apartments in the duplex, displacing the family of each apartment.
DR Softball remains unbeaten in district action
Dan River's softball ditched their traditional blue, white, and red uniforms for pink and white as they hosted the Altavista Colonels in a Cancer Awareness Night game on Wednesday. The Lady Wildcats raised over $350 for the Danville-Pittsylvania County Cancer Association and they came away with an 8-2 home victory over the Colonels.

REIDSVILLE — The West Stokes Lady Wildcats are back on top of the Mid-State 2A Conference with a 19-0 win over Reidsville. With the win, the Wildcats clinched a Co-Conference Championship with McMichael. The championship is the Lady Cats 11th in program history.
