A Danville civil rights leader and church founder has died. According to the Danville Register & Bee, Bishop Lawrence Campbell died at 93-years-old on Tuesday.

Campbell was the founder and pastor at Bibleway Cathedral in Danville. Mayor Alonzo Jones confirmed Campbell’s death to the Danville Register & Bee on Wednesday morning.

Campbell marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helped lead marches in Danville during the Civil Rights Movement.
