    Danville Police make several DUI, disorderly conduct arrests

    The Danville Police Department recently made several arrests:

    • May 31, 3:45 p.m. – Danville Police responded to a residence on Springhill Road for a disorderly person.  Richard Akin, 69, was causing issues with home health workers trying to treat his wife.  Upon police arrival, Akin, who was intoxicated, immediately became irate, causing a disturbance and menacing the responding officers.  Akin refused to return inside his home and had to be taken into custody.  Akin had to be physically restrained and carried to an awaiting police cruiser.  Akin was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication.
    • May 31, 10:51 p.m. – Danville Police responded to the Hill N Dale, Plainview Drive area for a suspicious person.  Several residents reported a male subject in the area creating a disturbance and looking through the windows of numerous residences.  Officers located the subject in question, Hunter Overstreet, 32, and determined he was under the influence of narcotics.  Overstreet was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
    • June 1, 12:09 a.m. – Danville Police responded to the parking lot of Giovanni’s Pizza for a check welfare.  Officers located Joshua Taylor, 34, behind the wheel of a running vehicle.  Officers were able to wake Taylor who received precautionary treatment by EMS and EMRMC.  During the investigation, officers determined Taylor had been in control of the vehicle and was under the influence.  A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia.  Taylor was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of heroin.
    • June 1, 12:46 a.m. – Danville Police responded to an altercation that occurred at a residence on W. Lexington Avenue.  Police determined that Patrick Cain, 38, had confronted the resident about an earlier disagreement.  A physical altercation occurred that resulted in minor injuries to the adult male victim.  Cain was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and assault 4th degree (minor injury).
    • June 1, 2:04 a.m. – Danville Police responded to 3rd St. for a vehicle that had sat through several traffic light cycles.  Upon arrival, officers had to wake the operator, Stephen Ray Jr., 25.  A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and Ray Jr. failed a series of field sobriety tests.  Ray Jr. was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and possession of marijuana.
    • June 1, 9:15 p.m. – Danville Police responded to a male subject causing a disturbance in the area of the public library.  Officers located the subject in question, Wayne Grubbs, 43.  Grubbs was standing near the roadway on 4th Street flailing his arms and being unsteady on his feet.  During the investigation, Grubbs was determined to be under the influence of narcotics.  Grubbs was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
    • June 2, 3:41 a.m. – Danville Police responded to a disturbance at Shakerpoint Apartments.  During the investigation, officers determined that during a verbal altercation Peter Thomas, 37, had grabbed his girlfriend’s cell phone and threw it across the parking lot.  The phone valued at over $1,000 suffered substantial damage.  Thomas was arrested and charged with criminal mischief 1st degree.
    • June 3, 5:48 p.m. – Danville Police launched an investigation into items stolen from multiple units at Storage Rentals of America.  During the investigation, multiple stolen items were in a unit belonging to Donna Ray, 50.  At the completion of the investigation, items were recovered and Ray was charged with receiving stolen property.
    • June 5, 9:15 a.m. – Danville Police responded to Ashely Way.  A concerned citizen contacted police regarding a registered sex offender.  Officer determined Vincent Napier, 57, was currently in compliance but had an active indictment for previously failing to comply with the sex offender registry and possession of cocaine.  Napier was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
