Vikings host Track Event

DANBURY — North Stokes hosted a 12 team track and field competition on April 24. The Vikings had four athletes finish with first place medals.

Chandler Sizemore and David Lee Williams were first in the pole vault with jumps of 8-0 and 14-6. Rachel Bingman won gold with a throw of 113-0 in the discus, and Sam King was first with a toss of 42-3 in the shot put.

Winning silver was Lacey Hester in the pole vault (6-0), Bingman in the shot put (29-7), and King in the discus (132-5).

Jordan Kahn was third in the discus with a throw of 129-6, and fourth in the shot put with distance of 40-5.5.

Other athletes competing for North Stokes included Nora King (Discus, Shot Put), Gavin Hernadez (100 meter dash, 400 meter dash), Gannon Dun (400 meter dash, long jump), Joshua Moser (400 meter dash), Lucas Lankford (1600 meter run), and Levi Smith (Discus, Shot Put).

Both boys’ and girls’ teams at North Stokes finished seventh out of 12 teams in each division.

Girl Teams Scores: North Surry 71, East Surry 68, Morehead 61, College Prep Leadership Academy 60, Piedmont Classical High School 59, Patrick County 38, North Stokes 36, Cornerstone Charter Academy 30, Millennium Charter Academy 28, NC Leadership Academy 19, and Triad Math & Science Academy 1.

Boy Team Scores: Hargrave Military Academy 106, North Surry 63, Morehead 55, College Prep Leadership Academy 47, Patrick County 44, Cornerstone Character Academy 44, East Surry 40, North Stokes 40, NC Leadership Academy 34, Triad Math & Science Academy 29, and Piedmont Classical High School 18.

The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday, May 2 for the Northwest 1A Conference Championship that’s being hosted by North Stokes.
