Bronny James’s decision to stay in the 2024 NBA Draft has become the biggest talking piece of the upcoming selection event. Will someone take a chance on the USC guard, who averaged less than five points a game over his lone college season?

The overwhelming consensus is, “Yes,” though no one’s quite sure where Bronny’s landing spot will be. Stephen A. Smith took his best guess this week, mentioning a team that might come as a shock.

That surprise squad? The Dallas Mavericks.

Here’s his intel:

“Here’s a newsflash, what I’ve also heard. Bronny James may not make it to the Lakers’ second round pick. Because if a team like the Dallas Mavericks could position themselves to get him in the second round, they’ll take him. Because LeBron said he wants to go where his son goes and if you’re the Dallas Mavericks and you got Kyrie, and you got Luka, and LeBron James is willing to come to Big D, that might be the first time something is more popular than the Cowboys.”

The comments were made on the Stephen A. Smith Show Tuesday, and they’ve begun making the rounds on social media. Could it happen? Stephen A. thinks so!

Not only does Smith believe the Mavs could jump the Lakers to swipe Bronny from their grasps, but he also thinks it could result in LeBron James moving to Big D.

That would pair the father-son duo alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to give Dallas one of the most dangerous backcourts in basketball.

Of course, it might only be possible should LeBron decide to take a pay cut after moving on from the Lakers. How much does he want to play with Bronny?

Recent reports from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst suggested that suiting up on the same team as his son is not at the top of the list in terms of LeBron James’s immediate future plan, though the superstar has publicly stated that he’d love the opportunity to do so.

Could it happen in Dallas? Stephen A. Smith believes it’s a possibility!
