In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

She is the cutest momma you've ever seen! This 3-year-old Pit Bull mix is ready to find her forever home after raising her nine adorable pups. Effie is a staff favorite at the shelter because her whole body wiggles with excitement whenever she sees her friends (which is basically everyone). She's even made some doggie friends at the shelter, though she can be a bit shy at first. If you're thinking of adopting Effie, the shelter staff recommend scheduling a playdate with any potential doggie housemates to make sure they're a good match. Effie hasn't had much experience with kids, so it would be great to introduce her to any kids under 5 who she might be living with. But don't worry, it's not required! So come meet Effie at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Dr. We're open every day from 12-6, and Effie can't wait to meet you!

Meet Patsy Grace! She is a beautiful 2-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd mix available for adoption from the SPCA of Texas. She weighs 60 pounds and is covered in a black-over-tan coat with large, mesmerizing puppy dog eyes. May is Foster Month and Patsy Grace is grateful for her amazing foster, but is hoping to find a forever home with a great family. She loves to play, hang out in people offices and nap until it’s time for dinner. She will definitely hear you when you call, it is hard for her to miss anything with those ears. Since she is in foster care an appointment is necessary to meet her. Just go to her profile and click the “Make an Appointment” button and Patsy’s peeps will set everything up.

Meet Polly! She is a younger pup in foster care currently learning how to dog. Just over a year-and-a-half old, Polly is a mixed breed dog with a light tan coat and a larger girl at 53 pounds. Polly isn’t the most self-confident dog at present, and she is a little on the shy side when meeting new people, but her foster reports that once a settling-in period has passed, Polly is a big fan of cuddles. She came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray from unincorporated Dallas County, so she is still learning to trust people. Since she is in foster care a prior appointment is necessary to meet her, just go to her profile and click the “Make an Appointment” button and the SPCA of Texas staff will make it happen.

Meet Rose!

Meet Rose! This little lady is already a foster success story, now she just needs the happy ending. She is a 6-year-old mixed breed doggie who weighs just 28 pounds. She has a white coat with adorable patches and splashes of brown fur around her head. Just like her name, she came into the SPCA of Texas as an extremely shy little bulb, but has blossomed into a happy, affectionate pooch who loves to watch movies with people, play and get a nap in every now and then. To meet her, go to her profile and click the “Make an Appointment” button.

Meet Maisie! She is a very sweet 4-year-old, 17-pound female, blue cream with white Domestic Medium Hair Torbie hoping to find a forever home with the help of the SPCA of Texas. She is currently in foster care and under medical treatment for a little cough. She came to the SPCA of Texas from another shelter hoping for a second chance at adoption. She gets along with kids and other cats, so she may just be the purrrfect playmate. To meet her, go to her profile and click the “Make an Appointment” button.
