Man shot and killed woman before firing at witness, Dallas police say

62-year-old Wan Cho was arrested and charged after the shooting at Dallas' Asian Trade District on Royal Lane.

The owner of a cafe was murdered in Dallas' Korea Town Monday night, and the suspected killer was caught.

Police say witnesses at the business in Northwest Dallas risked their lives to capture the man who allegedly gunned down the woman.

Inside Cafe Happy Day, 53-year-old Chong Sun Wargny was shot-and-killed by 62-year-old Wan Cho, according to Dallas police. The victim was the cafe owner, according to the property management company.

A nearby restaurant manager says a friend working next to the cafe called him immediately after hearing gunfire and told him to hide.

"You know, please lock the doors and stuff. Don’t come out," he said.

Surveillance footage shown to FOX 4 by property management shows a police presence outside the business but does not show the shooting since it happened inside.

Dallas police say it happened after an argument and Cho also shot at a witness but missed as people took him down and held him until officers arrived.

Police are calling those bystanders heroes.

Cho has a criminal history.

Man shot during fight in Dallas at property training roosters for cockfights

The Dallas Police Animal Cruelty Unit rounded up more than 2,000 birds and found cockfighting paraphernalia at the location.

In 2015 according to an arrest affidavit, he was "very intoxicated" at a Korean BBQ restaurant in a Carrollton shopping center and "became very angry and began swearing and yelling at customers" after being refused service. He then punched someone in their mouth who was trying to calm him. He pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury and was sentenced to nine months of probation.

Now, he’s facing a murder charge for allegedly killing the 53-year-old woman who people describe as friendly.
