Dallas’ Clara Woolsey (23) runs toward first base after she hits the ball during the game against Central on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Independence, Ore.

The Dallas softball program is doing a fundraiser in hopes of installing an artificial turf field.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise $90,000 to install a playing surface that will allow the Dragons to play at home more during inclement weather.

Dallas softball coach Brandi Jackson stressed the importance of having a reliable field for games and practices, and not having added travel causing the players to miss more class time.

“It will also be a great opportunity for youth programs, for practices and games during the off season,” Jackson said.

This season, Dallas is 24-3 overall and 15-1 in the Mid-Willamette Conference.

The Dragons are No. 1 in the OSAA Class 5A rankings.

Dallas advanced to the 5A state semifinals with a win against La Salle on Friday. The Dragons next will face Wilsonville in Tuesday’s state semifinals.

As of Friday afternoon, Dallas has raised $9,670.
