12th Annual Garage & Bake Sale

8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 and 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2 at Faith Lutheran Church, 602 S 14th St., Adel.

Crisis Intervention Advocacy Center will hold its 12th annual garage and bake sale on June 1-2 inside the gym at Faith Lutheran Church.

Perry Farmers Market

4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at 2nd Street between Willis Avenue & Warford Street.

Perry's Downtown Farmers Market opens for the 2023 season on Thursday, June 1 and will continue for 18 weeks through Thursday, Sept. 28 Special events are tentatively scheduled for the third Thursday of each month. Stop by to shop for locally grown produce, baked goods and hand crafted items in downtown Perry from 4-7 p.m. on Thursdays. FMNP vouchers accepted by certified vendors. The Perry Farmers Market is certified to accept SNAP EBT and Double Up Food Bucks. 2nd Street will be CLOSED to through traffic between Willis Avenue and Warford Street for the market. Drop-off/pick-up traffic from Willis Avenue to 2nd Street will be directed to the alley west of 2nd Street and south of Josh Davis Plaza. Open Skating at Meek Park

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, June 2 at Meek Park Skating Rink.

Open skating will start on Friday, June 2. The Meek Park Skating Rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday mornings and 7-9 p.m. Thursday evenings throughout the summer. Many different sizes of skates and roller blades are available at no cost, along with a few ride on toys. You are welcome to bring your own as well. All ages are welcome.

Friday Fest w/ Rukkus

Free Family Friendly Fun on the First Friday of June: That’s Friday Fest at the Pattee Park Bandshell in Perry! Enjoy live music by Rukkus from 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2. Let's kick off the summer and help Rukkus celebrate 50 years with live music, inflatables and food trucks! Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets, yard games and your own basket of refreshments (beer and wine permitted; but no glass allowed). Pack a picnic or purchase food from local vendors on site. Local vendors will include: Weinie Wonderland, Cocina Los Agaves, Comfort Concessions and PGSA Ice Cream Sundaes.

Van Meter Raccoon River Days

June 2-3 in Van Meter.

The annual Raccoon River Days return to Van Meter on June 2-3. The event kicks off on Friday, June 2 with a hot dog meal, beverage garden, music from DJ Tim Cox, bounce houses, firehose fun, spin art and face painting. The festivities continue on Saturday, June 3 with a pancake breakfast, 5K run, parade, bags tournament, food trucks and beverage garden, pie auction, live music and fireworks. Woodward Christian Church Supper

5-6:30 p.m. Friday, June 2 at 411 South Main, Woodward.

Woodward Christian Church will host a beef burger supper during Woodward Friends and Neighbors Day on Friday, June 2. The menu will include beef burgers, potato salad, baked beans, pie and a drink. Adults are $8 and children are $4. Dine-in or carry-out. Call 515-438-2273 for pick up. Proceeds will go to support community and mission projects.

The event continues on Saturday, June 3 with a vendor/craft show on Main Street, parade, carnival games and cake walk, inflatables, pie auction, a live band, fireworks and more. Fish Waukee Event on Iowa’s Free Fishing Weekend

9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at Triumph Park, Waukee.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dallas County will be partnering with the Rotary Club of Waukee and the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department for the Fish Waukee event on Saturday, June 3 at Triumph Park in Waukee. Participating individuals will have the ability to learn key fishing skills such as baiting, casting, reeling, and fish and wildlife ethics or get right to "Free Fishing" around the lake. Make sure you complete the fishing skills for a chance at the available door prizes. The event is for all ages and is a family-friendly event. There is no cost to attend. No license needed as this is in conjunction with the state sponsored Free Fishing Weekend. Bait and refreshments will be provided to the participating individuals. Please bring your own equipment. Limited fishing equipment may be available upon request while supplies last. Adult supervision is always required for children.

Dallas County Sheriff Special Olympics All-Wheel Show

10 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at 8th Street and Main Street on the Adel Downtown Square.

The Dallas County Sheriff Special Olympics All-Wheel Show will return on Saturday, June 3. Registration will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Judging will take place from 1-2 p.m. and awards will be handed out at 2:30 p.m. Awards will be given out for Best of Show, Special Olympics Choice, Long Distance, Most Likely to be Stopped by a Cop, Best Off Road Vehicle. The cost is $25 first car and $10 for every car thereafter (per owner). Register online or on the day of the show.

Clothing Event

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dallas County.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dallas County will be offering a clothing event on June 3. The event is for 4-H members in grades 9-12 interested in showcasing apparel design and production knowledge and sharing their understanding and use of design elements and principles within one of four classes. The member selects one of four categories in their chosen class. The four categories are athletic wear, formal wear, everyday wear and costume. KidsFest

10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Perry Public Library.

Join us for the annual Perry Public Library KidsFest! This is an exciting, family-friendly, budget-friendly event to kick-off the Summer Library Program. We offer many age-appropriate activities for children like the Foam Blaster, creating bubbles, science-based discover stations, balloon twister, face painter, family photos, dunk tank, interactive cone game and a petting zoo. The Perry Volunteer Fire Department will cook pork loin sandwiches and hot dogs. Hy-Vee donates the hamburger and hotdog buns and Fareway donates the bottles of water. Also included in the lunch are a bag of chips and a cookie. The Fire Department sells lunch for $1 and is a fundraiser for them.

Artists in the Courtyard

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Soumas Court, Perry.

Experience and enjoy the art of Iowa on June 3. Atelier at 1109 presents an Artists in the Courtyard Art Show featuring local and state artists. Walk through Soumas Court and visit with artists about their craft and snag a few of your favorite unique art pieces. The event will feature artist demonstrations, kids activities, art tutorials and more. Visit the downtown galleries and shops and experience the art of Iowa.

Adel Farmers Market

4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Fullers Parking Lot, 718 Greene St.

The Adel Farmers Market will kick off the 2023 season on Tuesday, June 6. The market will run from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesdays through September in the Fullers Parking Lot. Free Merchant Movies

11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7 at Perry Grand 3 Theatres.

The Perry Grand 3 Theatres will kick off the 2023 summer movies on Wednesday, June 7 with "Despicable Me." All movies will be shown at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 2.
