Dallas County Sheriff’s Daily News Report June 1
A minor driver was driving on Hwy 169 at 302nd Place, when the driver made a turn and hit a motorcycle driven by Rodney Freeman, Madrid. Mr. Freeman was taken to Methodist Hospital for evaluation of any injuries. The minor driver was not hurt. Damage to the Minor’s vehicle was estimated at $20000. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $10000. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The minor was cited for Failure To Yield Upon Left Turn.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Daily News Report May 30
Judy Rumery, Pella, was traveling west on I80 near the 113 mile marker when she tried to change lanes and collided with a semi driven by Uri Igolkin, Aurora, CO. Ms. Rumery was checked by an ambulance for any injuries. Mr. Igolkin did not report any injuries. Damage to Ms. Rumery’s vehicle was estimated at $7000. Damage to the semi Mr. Igolkin was driving was estimated at $1500.
14th Annual Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Special Olympics All-Wheels Show is Saturday
A variety of classic and modern cars will take over the downtown area of Adel this weekend for a good cause. The 14th Annual Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Special Olympics All-Wheels Show will start at 10am with registration on 8th and Main Street Saturday. It’ll be $25 to register a vehicle and $10 for any additional vehicles. Those who enter into the contest will have a chance to win one of the six trophies including best of show, special olympics choice award, long distance, most likely to get stopped by a cop, top 20 and best off road. Judging will take place from 1 to 2pm and awards will be handed out at 2:30pm. Registration can be completed online or the day of the event with checks paid out to the Special Olympics of Iowa. Steven Scar of Adair was traveling on U.S. Interstate 80 near the 112 mile marker when his vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle, whose driver stopped briefly and asked Scar not to call the police and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to Scar’s vehicle was estimated at $2,500.

Dallas County Supervisors Award Bids for Administrative Building
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday. The Board awarded several bids for the new administration building project. They approved the bid for the structural concrete to Jensen Buildings for the cost of $1,006,573, CNC Foundation was awarded the bid for the aggregate piers for $70,400 and they tabled the site utilities bids for further review of the numbers. The Board also approved the bid pre-qualifications as presented for roofing, building automated systems, site concrete and masonry. They approved Team Services to provide third party testing and inspection services for the construction phase for the administration building project for the cost of $49,600.
Car, truck collide on Willis Avenue by Fareway Monday
A car and a pickup truck collided in the 1300 block of Willis Avenue early Monday afternoon. The Dallas County EMS responded to treat reported injuries. It is unknown at this hour whether any victims were transported. The collision occurred about 12:30 p.m. Both vehicles appeared to sustain front-end damages.
Dallas County Conservation Promotes Free Fishing Weekend in Iowa
Anyone with fishing equipment, but doesn’t have a license can test out the waters for this weekend with no penalty. Department of Natural Resource Officer for Dallas County Dusting Eighmy says that the free fishing weekend runs from Friday through Sunday. Eighmy explains that someone without an updated fishing license can legally fish, but all other regulations remain in place. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that its a perfect time to take family members fishing or introduce a friend into the sport of fishing.
