DALLAS CENTER, Iowa — One person is dead and another is injured following a crash just east of Dallas Center, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Patrol.

69-year-old Michael Remus of Grimes was driving his truck west on Highway 44 when his vehicle was rear-ended by a cement truck around 9:45 a.m. Monday, a crash report states.

When first responders arrived, they found Remus had serious injuries and was not breathing. First responders performed CPR on Remus and attempted to use an AED.

Despite their efforts, Remus died of his injuries at the scene.
