A longtime Central Virginia food production company has rebranded itself in honor of its most well-known products. In a statement Monday, Oct. 26, Richmond-based Sauer Brands Inc. announced its name, effective immediately, will be Duke's Mayo Company, reflecting the company's most popular condiment. Company officials changed the name after the recent selloff of its spice business, a product the company had made since it was started 139 years ago. “Duke’s Mayo Company is a name that says plainly what this company is about, which is a dedication to flavor and scaling high-growth condiments,” Duke's Mayo CEO Yuri Hermida said in the statement. “Chefs, operators and families choose our brands for their exceptional taste and high-quality ingredients. Leading with Duke’s gives us a name that carries that reputation into every conversation, across every brand we make and every kitchen we serve.” It is the company's second rebranding in six years. In 2020, the company changed from C.F. Sauer Co. to Sauer Brands.
