On March 16, the Women's Alliance of McKinney hosted a "Lunch & Learn" event at The Lodge at Trinity Falls themed Inspire - Invest - In Power presented by BaylorScott & White. Featured speakers were McKinney City Council Woman Dr. Geré Feltus and Frisco City Council Woman Tammy Meinershagen who spoke of their journey to leadership. Funds from the event benefited Belle & Sparrows who provide services, employment and encouragement to underserved women in McKinney and the surrounding suburbs.

Jason Starkey Shares Addiction Recovery Journey at Stars in Recovery

Growing up in West Virginia, Starkey was the captain of an undefeated, Division 1 football team and received a scholarship as a walk-on at the University of Marshall where he played alongside Chad Pennington. Starkey went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals for 4 years. He bravely shared the journey of his spiral into addiction and how his wife's love, family support, and a “Thundering Herd” brotherhood helped Jason win his battle against addiction. With more than 15 years of sobriety, Starkey now travels to colleges and treatment programs sharing his story of recovery, inspiring hope, and insights on how to conquer addiction.

Trinity Falls, a master-planned community located in McKinney, hosted the VIP tent complete with a photo booth, Blue Fizz sparkling cocktail with edible flowers, and an appearance from W Durable Goods who customized Trinity Falls-branded bandanas for attendees. Twenty-one award-winning wineries, fifteen delicious restaurants, and a wide variety of retailers were on hand for shoppers to enjoy and shop. The event was held in partnership with the Frisco Arts Foundation.

The building is named Tillman House, after Dallas 24 Hour Club's Founder Lee Tillman, and was created to positively impact The 24's ability to provide safe, sober transitional living for homeless men and women seeking a brand new life away from drugs and alcohol.

A longtime cult figure among fans of outlaw country, Hubbard is a singer/songwriter specializing in hard-edged character studies and rough-hewn, compassionate meditations on life and relationships. Upon entering the venue, guests browsed the silent auction items while enjoying a stripped-down performance from local musician, Rachel Stacy. Once inside the reception hall, Event Chair Shauna Jenkins, welcomed attendees and brought Recovery Resource Council CEO, Eric Niedermayer and Board of Directors Chairwoman, Maureen Maidlow to the stage to share new findings about how alcoholism and drug addiction are impacting our North Texas community. They talked about the many ways the Council is supporting those seeking recovery and the programs in place to those seeking a life in recovery the tools to do so.
