CULVER CITY (CNS) - Two suspects allegedly involved in an armed robbery outside Westfield Culver City mall were arrested in Upland, police said Wednesday.

The suspects, who were identified only as Los Angeles residents, were arrested May 25 after a license plate reader detected the vehicle that was allegedly tied to the May 19 robbery, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The robbery occurred around 8 p.m. that night in the parking lot of the mall in the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, police said. Three suspects approached the victim after he left Sheikh Shoes, then asked where he was from while one of them brandished a handgun, according to police.

The victim tried to walk away but was punched several times by the suspects until he fell to the ground, police said. The suspects then snatched jewelry from the victim's neck, took his iPhone 12, and ran back inside the mall.

The items stolen from the victim were worth about $10,000, police said.

Surveillance video showed the suspects getting into a white Lexus after the robbery. The Lexus is the one that was spotted in Upland last week, leading to a traffic stop and the arrest of two of the suspects, police said.

Anyone with additional information regarding the robbery was urged to contact Culver City Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Edward Baskaron at 310-253-6316 or the Watch Commander at 310-253-6202.
