Police are seeking charges against a 21-year-old Milwaukee man after a gun was fired during a fight in Cudahy, authorities say.

Cudahy police responded to the 3700 block of East Edgerton Avenue around 8:13 p.m. June 6 after receiving numerous reports about a fight in the area and a gun being fired, according to a June 8 news release from the Cudahy Police Department.

Police detained multiple people, including a 21-year-old Milwaukee man who had injuries to his face, back and ribs. He was also in possession of a concealed handgun, police said.

The investigation revealed that a 19-year-old Cudahy man and the 21-year-old Milwaukee man were involved in a fist fight in the 3700 block of East Pulaski Avenue, Cudahy Police Chief Tom Poellot said in the release.

Police said the 19-year-old approached the 21-year-old, the two exchanged words, the older man racked the slide on his gun and a fight ensued.

During the fight, the 21-year-old man discharged his firearm in an unknown direction, Poellot said.

The 21-year-old was taken to St. Luke’s South Shore Hospital for evaluation where he was treated and released.

Cudahy police are seeking charges from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office against the 21-year-old for second-degree recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon.

Anyone with more information on the altercation is asked to contact the Cudahy Police Department at 414-769-2260.
