Crystal City Girls Basketball Student Assistant Receives Award

(CRYSTAL CITY)   Crystal City High School Senior Sophia Edwards is one of three student assistants across the state being honored by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association with the  “Curtis Kerr Memorial Student Assistant of the Year” award.  Sophia is being recognized for her work with the Crystal City girls basketball team.

Crystal City Girls basketball coach Ken Jones says Sophia truly deserves the award and her contribution to the team was over the top.

Jones says Sophia has unique leadership skills.

According to Sophia, she was drawn to helping out the team because her sister Abbegail played on the team. She says she was surprised to hear she is being honored and she has created cherished friendships through the team.

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association banquet is next month at the Doubletree Hotel in Springfield.
