Baaloo is Bartlett’s Hometown Coffee Roastery
The Memphis area suburb of Bartlett, Tennessee not that long ago had no coffee at all. Then we got a Starbucks, and then about a year ago, the owners of Side Porch Steak House opened The Pharmacy Coffeehouse next door to their restaurant. Not long after that, a 7 Brew drive-up chain outlet opened on Stage Road, and now Baaloo Coffee Roasters has appeared on Bartlett Road, just down the block from Brad’s Bar-B-Que.

Memphis is getting Gussied Up. First look inside the new restaurant
Gussied Up celebrates its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 24, following a soft launch that offered an early look at what the owners have been working toward for more than a year. We stopped by for a meal on Oct. 21, the first day of the soft launch, and the excitement was evident throughout the team. “We’re so excited to open on Saturday,” general manager Max Braverman said. “And it’s going to be a fun one. We’ll have a ring set up outside by the patio. And from 8 to 10, we’ll have live Memphis wrestling happening. Plus, we’ll have our full bar and menu. And it’s supposed to be super nice out, so that helps. It’s going to be like one big block party.” MEMPHIS BARBECUE: Memphis dominates list of best BBQ restaurants in Tennessee As that last comment suggests, Gussied Up isn't your typical neighborhood bar. It’s the kind of casual spot where the drinks are cold, the food is better than it needs to be, and nobody cares whether you’re dressed in a three-piece suit or Adidas sweat pants. Tucked behind Hard Times Deli , the owners' first Memphis venture at 655 Marshall Ave., Gussied Up is the

Memphis Breakfast Regulars Still Slide Into The Booths At Bryant’s Breakfast
Some Memphis mornings start before the sun does, and a line is already forming on Summer Avenue. People wait outside a modest building because they know the routine by heart. They order at the counter, grab a number, pour their own coffee, and find a seat. The family behind the counter has been feeding the city since 1968, which means grandparents who came here as kids now bring their own grandkids.

Addiction Smash Burgers: There’s No Breaking The Habit
Food trucks parked in gas station lots do not normally attract my attention. They have become extremely common in Memphis, especially for Mexican food, but I am not someone that likes to eat in my car or outside, and unless the place is near enough to home, I probably would normally decline. As it is, I had driven past Addiction Smash Burgers many times without giving it much thought. However, when I read a positive review online that suggested it might be the best burger in Memphis, I decided I had to try it.

Midwestern fast-food restaurant staple Culver's is expanding its footprint to Lakeland, its first location in the Memphis area. The Wisconsin-based restaurant chain is coming to the 100-acre Ashmont mixed-use development under construction at Canada Road and East Davies Plantation Road, while an unnamed grocery store is also being planned for the site. The location in Lakeland will be the chain's first Memphis-area restaurant, according to Ashmont developer Vince Smith. Smith told The Commercial Appeal on Oct. 22, that Culver’s has plans to break ground at an outparcel at Ashmont in early January 2027.
