At the start of this semester, the Express spoke with students around campus with the goal of seeing what’s on the mind of students today. We asked four questions on classes, commute and life in and outside of City College. This is how eight students answered.

Inside UC Davis’ Russian department, where small class sizes fuel big conversations
Students discuss their experience in the Russian program. On the fourth floor of Sproul Hall, Mukhlisakhon Erkinova, a third-year Russian and biological sciences double major, sips chamomile tea from a white Styrofoam cup. Every month, Erkinova joins her fellow students for tea parties, where they practice their Russian conversation skills over tea and sweets. These are the most entertaining days for Erkinova. Foothill celebrates special education students in 2nd annual 'Football for All'

Foothill SDCI teacher Kory Kammersgard worked with football coach and special education teacher Ross Griffith to create the event last year, and the positive response prompted a return in 2026. “‘Football for All’ was an idea Ross (Griffith) and I had, and it’s an opportunity for our students in the SDCI program to shine,” Kammersgard said. “These are students that are often left out of the limelight, and this is a chance for them to have a day that’s exclusively for them.” Students kicked off the event by running through a Cougar tunnel and onto the field, where they were met with high-fives from Foothill cheerleaders and football players. Shortly after, the students split into different groups to participate in throwing, catching, running and tackling drills alongside the football team. “Being a special education teacher myself, this means
