PennDOT District 9 issued construction work zone updates and travel advisories for Somerset County. U.S. 219 – Boynton Bridge Replacement Project Minor delays of three to five minutes can be expected on U.S. Route 219 in Boynton, Elk Lick Township, as construction of the permanent replacement for the bridge over Piney Creek nears completion. On May 24, 2025, PennDOT reopened U.S. 219 one mile north of Salisbury, just 10 days after the 102-year-old Boynton bridge was damaged by flooding by building a temporary structure to restore local travel. More: Public meeting set for US Route 219 and bridge preservation project From Oct. 26 through Nov. 6, contractors will be removing the temporary road and bridge, both built beside the permanent structure to allow continued traffic during construction. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October. Charles J. Merlo Inc., Mineral Point, is the lead contractor for the $2.27 million project to build a permanent replacement of the Boynton Bridge over Piney Creek. PennDOT has announced there will be restrictions on Ohio River Boulevard in Beaver County for the next two weeks. Long-term lane closures will begin at 7 a.m. Oct. 27 and last around the clock through 5 p.m. Nov. 6 on southbound Route 65 in Conway between Crows Run Road and First Avenue, according to PennDOT.
