BOW approves First Friday street closures

Posted

Crawfordsville Main Street Director Sue Lucas received permission Wednesday from members of the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety to close the 100 block of West Pike Street for First Friday concerts. Lucas asked the street to be closed 2-10 p.m. the day of the events.

First Friday events feature music and food vendors. Food is served beginning at 6 p.m. and bands play from 7-9 p.m. This year’s First Friday Series features Groove Smash on June 2, the Tony Bryant Project on July 7 and Pavel and Direct Project on Aug. 4.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a memo of understanding with the county that states the city will provide funding for water and sewer to run along the planned road extension between Ladoga Road and U.S. 231S. Commissioners approved the agreement Monday during their regular meeting.

• Approved an agreement with Lisa Lynch, market manager, for the Crawfordsville Farmers Market. Lynch will be paid $16 per hour not to exceed $6,000 for the every Saturday event at Pike Place.

• Approved a request from David Chambers for rental of a parking space in the 100 block of West Pike Street parking lot.

• Gave Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis permission to have city crews mow yards at 1511 Southside Drive owned by Serena Smith, and 607 S. Water St., owned by AG&NS LLC. Property owners will be charged for the cost of the mowing. If the responsible parties do not pay, the amount will be added to their property tax bills.
