CRAWFORD COUNTY, MI -- A 62-year-old man died Friday evening after being ejected in a motorcycle crash, police said.
At about 6:25 p.m. May 26, troopers from the Michigan State Police responded to a motorcycle crash reported on Hiawatha Drive near North Manistee River Road in Frederic Township -- southern Crawford County.
A witness told police that a motorcycle was heading southbound on Hiawatha Drive when the bike began swerving in the roadway. The motorcycle then ran off the road into a ditch, police said.
The driver -- identified as Guy Russell, 62, of Frederic -- was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries, police said. Russell was airlifted to Munson Hospital in Traverse City where he later died from his injuries.
Russell was not wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, police said.
