Two People Die Riding Unregistered Dirt Bike in Accident Involving SUV

Two people riding a dirt bike died in a crash Wednesday night in Cranston.

The accident occurred in the Edgewood section of the city, at the intersection of Broad Street and Wheeler Avenue, and involved an SUV.

According to police, the dirt bike was not registered.

Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins told WJAR, "This is a time of year when the motorcycles come out, the bikes come out, maybe they were just out for a nice ride for the evening.” 

In 2021, Hopkins had joined then-Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza at a joint press conference to announce a joint strategy to address the use of illegal ATVs and motorbikes on city streets.
