WE’RE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING. COUNCIL BLUFFS POLICE INVESTIGATING AN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING. THEY RESPONDED TO A DISTURBANCE INVOLVING A GUN NEAR SOUTH SEVENTH AND FIFTH AVENUES AROUND FOUR THIS MORNING. POLICE SAY JUSTIN JEWEL OF COUNCIL BLUFFS WAS SHOT IN THE LEG. HE WAS TAKEN BY PRIVATE VEHICLE TO A HOSPITAL WITH NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE SHOOTING IS ASKED TO CALL COUNCIL BLUFFS. CRIM

Council Bluffs man shot in the leg early Tuesday, police say
A man was shot in the leg during a disturbance early Tuesday morning, Council Bluffs police said in a news release.Investigators identified the victim as Justin Juhl, 31. They said someone drove him to a Council Bluffs hospital for treatment around 4 a.m. Juhl was expected to survive.Police said someone also reported a gun possibly being fired near 7th Street and 5th Avenue around that same time. Officers began processing the scene.Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 712‐328‐4728 or can remain anonymous by calling Council Bluffs Crime Stoppers at 712‐328‐STOP (7867).
