South Texas Women Get First Heart Hub in San Antonio
San Antonio women with heart concerns now have a clinic designed specifically around their needs. University Health has opened a dedicated Women's Heart Center to tackle a long‑standing gap in cardiac care for female patients. The program launched in May 2025 and moved into its own clinic space in April 2026. It treats adult women across the lifespan, with a special focus on pregnancy‑related cardiac issues and syndromes that tend to show up differently in women than in men.

San Marcos Launches City-Run EMS, Names New Chief
San Marcos is cutting the cord on its shared ambulance system and launching a city-run Emergency Medical Services department on Oct. 1, 2026, with roughly $9 million set aside in the 2026–27 draft budget to make it happen. Current San Marcos‑Hays County EMS leader Jill Rosales has been tapped to run the new agency, and city officials say they will roll out the department in phases, prioritizing existing SMHCEMS staff so residents do not feel a bump in service while the switch happens.
