Palma (California) three-star wide receiver Logan Saldate has never taken a college visit - official or otherwise - to Corvallis.

In fact, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound pass-catcher has never even been to the celebrated college town.

But he knows it's home.

On Monday, Saldate announced his commitment to Oregon State over fellow finalists Arizona, California, Oklahoma State and Washington.

“I’m be committing to Oregon State, because of the coaches," he said. "They’ve been showing a lot of love ever since they offered me - and that was early. It wasn’t only the coaches, but also the players. I see what they are building and I want to be a part of that.”

Saldate said conversations with true freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles have been especially encouraging.

“The coaches are super interested and seem hyped up. I’ve got my official visit coming up, but I’ve heard great things about Oregon State," he said. "I’ve been talking to Aidan Chiles and he feels it’s a great place for me.”

Beyond that ,however, there's a degree of uncertainty to his recruitment.

Saldate has official visits currently scheduled for California (June 2), Oregon State (June 16) and Oklahoma State (June 23).

Despite his latest announcement, the California playmaker said he is "not sure” whether or not he will cancel those plans.

He is also contemplating whether or not he will compete in track and field at the college level.

Saldate, who runs a 10.8 100-meter time, is fresh off a second-place finish in the longjump at the CIF state meet with a mark of 25-5.5, a leap that would've won the Oregon 6A state championship by nearly three feet.

The final piece of the puzzle? Whether or not Saldate intends to graduate early or on the traditional timeline.

So far, he's not sure about that either.

But he knows the destination.

Corvallis.
