Chicken Shack to reopen Lake Murray restaurant after Swadley's, Lookout Kitchen failures

Chicken Shack , a popular stop along Route 66 in Arcadia, is set to reopen the restaurant at Lake Murray State Lodge near Ardmore following two failed attempts by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation to place all its park eateries under one operator. State tourism officials announced Wednesday, Oct. 28, the 6,000-square-foot restaurant, formerly home to Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen and Lookout Kitchen , is expected to open this winter. “Lake Murray is one of Oklahoma’s most visited state parks, and we want every part of the experience we provide there to reflect what makes it such a special destination,” said Amy Blackburn, executive director of the state tourism department. “Bringing Chicken Shack into the lodge gives our guests another quality amenity and a place to gather and enjoy their time at the park. Rodrigue's Famed Blue Dog Finds New Home at Edmond Sculpture Park
A piece of Louisiana folk art history is making its way to Edmond. An eight-foot-tall Blue Dog sculpture by the late artist George Rodrigue, titled Together We Stand, is set to become part of the growing collection at Uncommon Ground Sculpture Park, and Rodrigue's widow traveled to Oklahoma to introduce it herself.
