East Valley School District moves forward with disestablishing JROTC program
YAKIMA, Wash. - The East Valley School District announced on Monday that its initial decision to disestablish its JROTC program will be moving forward. EVSD initially decided to suspend the program for the 2024-25 school year on April 26. The decision was made due to low interest and lack of a qualified instructor.

Woman dead after driving drunk on State Route 291 near Suncrest
SUNCREST, Wash. — One person is dead after a one-car crash two miles north of Tumtum. According to WSP, 55-year-old Barbara Jones from Marshalltown, Iowa, was drunk driving at high speed northbound on State Route 291. She overcorrected, driving into the southbound lanes and went off the road. Jones was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown out of her car.
