COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Ohioans are serious about their Chipotle. The Buckeye state is among the top three states in the country with the most locations of the Mexican chain.
Chipotle has over 3,300 locations in the United States, according to its website. Ohio has 230 locations – only two states, California (457) and Texas (281), have more locations than Ohio.
Columbus also comes out on the top in the list of U.S. cities with the most Chipotles, having 21 locations. Separate from restaurants, the chain also moved part of its corporate operations to Ohio’s capital city. The city with the most Chipotle locations is New York (56), followed by Chicago (40), Houston (33), Los Angeles (24) and Washington, DC (22). Columbus is tied with Brooklyn (21) for sixth place.
Chipotle was founded in Denver in 1993, which now has a mere 15 locations.
The company is ranked on the Fortune 500 and is recognized on the 2023 list for Fortune’s Most Admired Companies and Time Magazine’s Most Influential Companies, according to Chipotle.
