Former Buckeyes Zach Dezenzo, T.J. Brock Promoted To Double-A

A pair of former Ohio State Buckeyes baseball players recently received promotions in their respective minor league ranks.
Houston Astros shortstop Zach Dezenzo was promoted to the Corpus Christi Hooks May 26 and Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher T.J. Brock was assigned to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Tuesday — both the Double-A affiliates of their respective organizations. Brock and Dezenzo were drafted in the sixth and 12th rounds, respectively, of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft.
Dezenzo started the 2023 season with the High-A Asheville Tourists, hitting an otherworldly .407 with 11 doubles and four home runs while driving in 20 runs in 113 at-bats.
He has already gone deep in his first 24 at-bats with the Hooks, hitting .333 with an on-base percentage of .448 and five stolen bases in seven games.
Dezenzo's 38 career home runs are the third most in Ohio State history.
Brock, a flame-throwing late-inning reliever with the Buckeyes, started with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, and he was lights out. In 20 1/3 innings, Brock held a 1.77 ERA with 13.9 strikeouts per nine innings, allowing four earned runs.
It hasn't been as easygoing for Brock in Double-A in two appearances, allowing as many runs with the Fisher Cats that he did with the Canadians in 19 fewer innings. He has a 27.00 ERA.
