17-year-old boy dies after being pulled from water at Griggs Reservoir Park

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in northwest Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A teenage boy died after he was pulled from a reservoir in northwest Columbus early Sunday morning. 

Officers were called to Griggs Reservoir Park, located in the 2900 lock of Riverside Drive, around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple people trapped in the Scioto River. 

Columbus police said two people, including 17-year-old Carson McAllister, were pulled from the water.
McAllister was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead at 8:45 a.m. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office did not provide immediate information on his cause of death.

The other person was taken to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and is described as stable. 

Police said it is not known how the two people became trapped in the water.
