From grocery stores punches to a $40,000 bicycle heist, here’s some of the weirdest crime news in central Ohio

“Repeatedly punched…in the face”

One local theft suspect attacked a grocery store employee after being stopped.

According to Columbus Police, just before 12 p.m. on March 19, an employee of the Meijer Grocery Store stopped a shoplifter. The individual then “repeatedly punched [the employee] in the face” before fleeing the store with some of the items she had been trying to steal.

The $40,000 Bike Theft

Police are still on the lookout for the individuals behind a $40,000 warehouse heist.

According to Columbus Police, on May 11, an individual entered a warehouse located on the 3300 block of Alum Creek Dr. The individual then loaded three “high-end” bicycles into a white van that then left the scene.

The estimated value of the bicycles, police say, was $40,000.

The Underwear Bandits

On May 5, the Victoria’s Secret store located on the 3600 black of Dublin-Granville Rd. was the victim of a significant theft, and police are on the hunt for a pair of suspects.

According to a media release from Columbus Police, two women entered the store before leaving with an estimated $1276.65 worth of merchandise and fragrances that was not paid for.
