It ended with an ace.

Andrew Lutschaunig and James Trotter fought off a tough Texas duo to take both sets of the NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles finals and become national champions, as Trotter smashed home an ace to end the match 6-4, 6-4 in Orlando, FL on Saturday.

The defining moment of the match came in the second set, as the Buckeyes broke Texas' serve with some incredible footwork:

This was the second consecutive season that the Men's Doubles final came down to a Texas/Ohio State matchup, and Lutschaunig and Trotter become just the second men's duo to take home a championship, after Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola won it in 2012.

From OhioStateBuckeyes.com:

This was the third meeting this season between the two teams and Lutschaunig and Trotter came out on top in all three meetings. They won 6-3 on Feb. 5 inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center and then won 6-4 at the ITA Indoor Team National Championships on Feb. 18. [...]

Overall, Lutschaunig and Trotter finished with a record of 18-8 this season. Trotter was 29-1 in singles and 22-8 in doubles while Lutschaunig finished with a team-high tying 31 doubles wins. He entered the year with a total of 20 career doubles victories. [...]

Trotter was also a singles All-American this season, marking the first two All-America honors of his career.

Congrats to both as they end the Ohio State tennis season on a high note.
