1 injured after shooting in area of Veterans Parkway, Hamilton Rd. in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - There is currently a police presence near Hamilton Road in Columbus.

According to authorities, Columbus officers are in the area of Veterans Parkway and Hamilton Road investigating a shooting.

Around 4 PM on March 19, Columbus police were called in reference to a shooting.

Our crews on the scene learned that the bullets were closer to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and 23rd Street. A resident that was in the area spoke with our Gabriela Johnson and said he heard a lot of shots fired that did not sound like a regular pistol.

Police say a male victim was shot in both feet - the injuries are not life threatening. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for those injuries.
