Cracker Barrel confirms permanent closure of restaurant with matter-of-fact voice message to loyal customers
A CRACKER Barrel location has permanently closed its doors and left some of its customers shocked.
The restaurant was in Columbia, South Carolina.
This was confirmed to its customers through a phone call to the now-closed branch, according to The State.
“Thank you for calling the Sandhill Cracker Barrel, this location has permanently closed,” the message said.
“We invite you visit one of our more than 160 locations in 44 states.”
Customers were also met with a sign on the door that confirmed the sad news, according to CBS affiliate WLTX.

“To our Sandhill community - thank you for more than 15 years in the community,” the note said.
“We’ve been honored to welcome guests into a home-away-from-home at our store, and we’ve valued the opportunity to be part of so many special occasions for our guests and community.
“We are deeply saddened to announce this location has closed.”
Despite this closure, two locations remain in the Columbia area.
Some locals shared that they were devastated and shocked by the news on a Facebook post.
“That’s crazy we were just there and it was packed,” one person wrote.
“We keep losing restaurants,” another commenter said.
One person suggested a possible reason for the restaurant's departure.
“I always thought that was a strange location… not near an interstate,” they said.
Cracker Barrel shared that “performance” was a reason for the location’s closure.

“As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the performance of our stores, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our guests and our business,” the chain told WLTX.
“The decision to close a store is never one we take lightly, and our focus right now is on assisting our impacted employees during this transition.”
This restaurant has not been the only location to shut up shop, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.
Retail stores have also faced mass closures as one company plans to close all of its branches.
