South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley did not hold back anything after the Gamecocks’ loss in the Final Four to Iowa Friday night.

She talked about everything from how her players were labeled by the media, which she clearly was upset about, to advice that she would give to star player Aliyah Boston about turning pro.

Even though she is a senior, Boston has one more year of eligibility left because of the COVID year. She averaged almost 14 points per game with 9.8 rebounds per game.

Although Boston may think about coming back to help the Gamecocks win another title, Staley thinks she should turn pro.

“I’m going to tell her to go,” Staley said. “There are defenses that are played against her that won’t allow her to play her game. And then it’s hard to officiate that. It’s hard to officiate that. So I would tell her to go. She’s great. She’s ready. She’s ready to see single coverage. She’s ready to make the next step to the league.”

When asked about her future, Boston said she hasn’t made a decision yet. If she does decide to turn pro, she will be most likely the top pick in the WNBA draft.

Boston really has nothing else to prove, if she leaves, it wouldn’t be a shock to anyone.
