The Gamecocks are just two wins away from securing their second consecutive national title and completing an undefeated season. Only nine teams in NCAA women's basketball history have been perfect for a full season. Since arriving in Columbia in 2008, Staley has transformed the program from an afterthought in the SEC to one of the nation's elite teams.

That proven track record of success was enough to earn her a lucrative contract extension in 2021. It made her the highest-paid coach in women's college basketball and gave her an opportunity to stay at South Carolina until at least 2028.

How much does Dawn Staley make at South Carolina?
Staley's base salary is $2 million this season. That number will rise by $100,000 each year over the next five years, meaning her base salary for the 2027-28 campaign will be $2.5 million.

On top of her base salary, she'll also earn hefty bonuses this year thanks to her team's Final Four run. Here's a full list of the bonuses she is already guaranteed to receive based on this season, per Boardroom :
- $15,000 for ending the season ranked
- $75,000 for winning the SEC regular season
- $50,000 for winning the SEC Tournament
- $100,000 for winning both
- $25,000 for reaching the NCAA Tournament
- $50,000 for reaching the Sweet 16
- $100,000 for reaching the Elite Eight
- $250,000 for reaching the Final Four
- $25,000 for being named SEC Coach of the Year
- $25,000 for winning National Coach of the Year
She will also earn an additional $500,000 if South Carolina wins the national title for the second year in a row Sunday.

When all those bonuses are added to her base salary, Staley will make between $2.67 million and $3.22 million this season.
The Gamecocks will continue their quest for a perfect season on Friday night against Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the Final Four (9 p.m. ET, ESPN).
