The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting in Columbia that left one person dead.

Deputies were called to the 300 block of Creek Drive in response to a 911 call that a person had been shot around 11 p.m. Monday. According to the sheriff's department, deputies arrived to find an unresponsive 27-year-old man outside with gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are actively working to determine what led up to the shooting. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
