MAPLEWOOD, NJ __ The Columbia High School Scholarship Fund has announced that this year it has awarded over $261,000 to 140 CHS seniors and graduates. It was the biggest amount ever awarded by the fund, now in its 101st year. The group’s mission is to provide need-based scholarships to Columbia High School graduates to help them further their education after high school.
CHSSF held a reception earlier this month in the CHS cafeteria where students, donors, fund trustees, and others, including CHS Acting Principal Ricardo Pedro, gathered. According to the CHSSF website, many of the recipients are the first in their families to attend college. “The scholarships they receive are an integral part of helping them to achieve their goals. The grants can be used for any kind of post-secondary education, including graduate school,” the site says.
