    Government offices to be closed for Juneteenth, trash will be picked up one day later in Columbia, Fulton

    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

    Government offices around Mid-Missouri will be closed Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

    Juneteenth is a state and federal holiday and offices around Mid-Missouri, including Columbia, Boone County, Jefferson City, Cole County, Fulton, Callaway County and more observe the holiday.

    A Wednesday press release states that residential curbside pickup will not be collected in Columbia on the day of the holiday and all trash collection for the rest of the week will be delayed by one day. Additionally, Go COMO routes will not run on June 19 and a Juneteenth parade is set for 7:30-11 a.m. Saturday, June 15.

    The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services offices and clinic will be closed as well on Juneteenth and the Activity and Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center, Douglass Family Aquatic Center and Lake of the Woods Pool will be open from noon-5 p.m.

    Fulton’s Solid Waste Department will also not pick up trash on June 19, and Wednesday trash will be picked up the next day, according to its calendar.

    Fulton’s city calendar also states a Juneteenth celebration will occur 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 15 at Legends Rec Plex at 808 State Street.

    Emergency services will not be affected.

    Trash pickup will not be affected in Jefferson City or Boonville , according to information from the websites of both cities.
