Fire put out at bike shop on Rogers Street within minutes

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One block of Rogers Street near College Avenue and Paris Road in Columbia was shut down Tuesday night for a fire.

Crews had the fire at Walt's Bike Shop under control within minutes of arriving. No injuries were reported and no one was believed to be in the building, according to a Columbia Fire captain.

"We are we are unaware of anybody being inside the shop at the time," Zachary Grace, of the Columbia Fire Department, said. "We did do a an aggressive primary search of the building and we were unable to find anyone inside."

The fire is under investigation. Estimated damage is not known.

Grace said that portion of the street should be open within an hour.
