Mizzou softball stays unbeaten in midweeks

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After being swept in a weekend series at Auburn, the Mizzou softball team has bounced back with a 4-1 win over Northern Iowa Wednesday to remain unbeaten in midweek games.

The Tigers were actually outhit by the Panthers 5-4, but a UNI error helped MU get some runs home.

Alex Honnold kicked off the scoring in the first inning with a two-run home run marking her eighth homer of the year and bringing her average to .458. Julia Crenshaw also brought in a run with a sac fly and the fourth run was brought home by an error on a bunt from Payton Jackson.

All of the Tigers four runs were scored in the first two innings.

On the mound, Jordan Weber got the win pitching four innings allowing just two hits and recording four strikeouts. Megan Schumacher pitched two innings allowing one run on three hits, plus freshman Taylor Pannell from Lee's Summit pitched the seventh innings recording two strikeouts.

The Tigers are now 21-14 on the season. Up next, will host No. 9 Alabama in a home weekend series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
